Brazil’s economy is the largest economy in the whole of Latin America. More specifically the country is ranked among huge countries like the United States and China, Brazil ranks ninth in the world. Brazil has famous valuable goods that are exported around the world, lots of these goods (coffee ect.) you use daily! Brazil is one of the biggest exporters in the world, China, the U.S, Argentina, Netherlands, and Spain are allegedly Brazil’s more frequent trading partners. More commonly known that they export coffee but Brazil happens to export several other products. Such as: hogs and pork related products, roundwood, and papayas and is a major producer and exporter of rice, beans, tobacco, cassava, cacao, tomatoes, sorghum, coconuts, potatoes, peas, lentils, corn, cashew nuts, Brazil nuts, melons, mangoes, bananas, tangerines, and other fruits. Brazil has massive quantities of iron, bauxite, columbium-tantalum ores, manganese, tin, gold, clay, and diamonds and other gems. This obviously weighs into the economy since these items are so valuable. Lots of citizens in Brazil work in mining and manufacturing, which makes up one in eight Brazilian jobs. Mining and manufacturing also makes up for 15% of the national income. On another hand Brazil’s GDP per capita is 19,000 USD. Brazil neighbors many other countries but one of the countries that Brazil borders is Columbia, Columbia’s GDP per capita is 18,700 USD which isn’t significantly lower. There is a service sector which takes account of large parts of the country, the jobs consist of nurses, teachers, and retail workers. For people in the lower class, Brazil says they face the “shadow” economy, like street vendors, housekeepers, and day laborers who only receive their salary in cash. Brazil has a diverse range of classes and jobs that put together their economy!
